There's a Whole Lot a Shakin' Going On
Certainly this the nadir. Counts are definitely lower today. Absolute Neutrophil count is 8, WBC 112, Hematocrit 30.8, Platelets are 22. What's cookin here at NIH is Phil; peak temperature 41.5 C (or 106.7 F) -neutropenic fever. With counts that low people usually get one so the docs were not surprised. They were right on it with blood cultures, empiric maximum dose of antibiotic and aggressive treatment of the fever and chills with Tylenol, Demerol and Phenergan and even icepacks to the armpits. At this time it's down to 39.8 and he's feeling better although he's extremely sore and weak. He did mention he didn't think he'd be running any 10 K's today!

Hope the jets have cooled, nadir is really a springboard and you can start taking on gourmet fuel starting with those handmade chocolates.

Hello Phil, looks like you are having a hard time there. Relax and let your wife wait on you for a while. We're lloking forward to you getting better and coming home. The Selway and Lochsa and Middle Fork Clearwater are pretty impressive this morning. Selway at 43,000 cfs and large logs rolling down and over the road above Selway falls. Driving on the Clearwater River is wild because the river is just a foot or tow below the highway 12 on the way to work this morning. Friend from Missoula and other places coming to raft the Lochsa this week, you won't find me in there with all of the logs. We will take pictures for you. Hand in there and I will keep ou on your blog to see how you are doing. Nick has been in the paper often this week related to flood information, Nick and Marci
