Turning the Corner?
Very much enjoying everyone's vivid descriptions and insights. "Limoncello" - makes me fantasize about good fruit, cheeses and bread in Tom and Karen's backyard, - a little piece of Tuscany in Sandpoint; Julia's kayaker puts me right into our beautiful kayaks waiting for us a home, definitely high on the "to-do" list for when we get back, and brings back Julia and Tom's Heavenly spot on Orcas Island. Must be beautiful there right now.
Judging from my records of the last time this should be the nadir today: WBC's 129 (ANC 15), rbc's already showing some signs of new production with Hct stable at 32, and platelets down to 11K -which earns me a platelet transfusion today. Even the appetite seems to be doing slightly better, though there's often a gap between what sounds good and what goes down, and says down!
Keep up all the great work you Livestrong People!
Love Phil

Hi Phil and MC, Mike and I have been thinking about you all this month and wondering how it was going. Thanks, MC, for the email -= it reminded me of the blog...and I've just caught up. Hope today is the pit with climbs tomorrow. Let this be the cure rather than just remission. Phil, holler when you start thinking chocolate again - my sister-in-law has started a chocolate business and if you let me know your favorites, I'll organize a box to be waiting for you.....whereever you say.
Mike and I are in Toronto for my meeting - I spoke on Obesity and Asthma - you know how I like to discuss the negatives of obesity. Mike is thoroughly enjoying the spouse role except when they won't let him get goodies at the expo! I'm off to walk along the Lake front and enjoy the view of the Toronto Islands. Tonight we are going to Second City for a highlights review and Improv.
We are looking forward to seeing you both sometime later this summer - on the way home, on the river or at the wedding!
Hang in there Phil and MC - the worst is over. Love ya, Kathy and Mike
Bottled the limoncello this morning out on the patio to keep the sugary syrup out where the ants should live. I filled ten bottles of the pale yellow stuff. We've been begging for and saving all sorts of bottles. The Tercera de Mayo party and Syd & Bruce's netted us two groovy tequila bottles.
We'll save one for your return. This limoncello is considered a "digestif" so maybe we should have some flown in to you!
It's all up from here, Phil and MC. May you soar into fine, robust, ruddy-cheeked, happy, active, calm, unconquerable HEALTH!
Love, the bottler
Your SCT sounds very familiar. They are brutal. Bucky said the hardest time of the day was deciding what to eat. Remember vanilla milk shakes! So glad you are progressing. Hang in there. Sheila
Dear Mary Catherine and Phil,
Okay, I'm tryin this again (got stuck in email hell or something....)
Wow. Sounds like you've been to hell and are slowly making your way back. Just tell that staph crap very nicely that it was kind of them to form a welcoming committe for you, but that you really need to be on your way now, thank you very much!
Mark and Jeremy and I took a bickeride through the nearby state park and saw a beautiful wild male turkey. It spread its tail for us and gobbled. So cool! No wonder Ben Franklin wanted it for our national emblem (instead we got a scavenger, and have been doing that ever since!)
Before we even left that spot, we were visited with two families of Canada geese, one with goslings very small, and one with goslings 3x as big, all with no real feathers to speak of yet. And the parents' necks were occassionaly in attack mode in case any of us watching got any ideas (we didn't!), so no biting/hissing/chasing. A beautiful day for a ride, and a nice belated birthday present and mother's day present, the first that Jeremy joined us for since last year (still won't wear a helmet--not since junior high --sigh...) We were so shocked he said he would come we forgot to take water with us, so it was shorter than it could have been. Of course the promise of Dairy Queen at the end probably helped. Nothing like a dip cone on a hot day! Chocolate, of course! With a nice glass of ice water. Simple pleasures....
Which is what you will be doing soon, Phil! The fact that you can be nauseous and feverish for that long proves how determined you can be! You and Daddy need to share a toast with your ensures! (But it has to be chocolate! And if you don't finish it all, he will be glad to accommodate!)
Blessings to you both. I think of you everytime I am out in my garden, hoping for your green thumbs.
Love and hugs to you both.
Elizabeth
