Diuresing (Losing fluid)
A good day. A good night's sleep last night, finally.
With the help of a small dose of Lasix (diuretric) I proceeded to lose fluid at a gentle but steady rate all night. And by morning my weight was down 2.1 kg. That felt very good.
Got in 16 minutes on the exer-cycle.
The team was equally satisfied with my progress. The HCT was down to 22, so they transfused me with 2 units of RBC this afternoon - that certainly has given me a boost.
Interesting development this afternoon was learning that the rectal biopsy from yesterday was positive for mild GVH (graph vs. host). Ironically, the diarrhea was completely gone, but that does not change the clinical indication for treatment. They are proceeding with a combination of a new drug that just releases steroids locally in the colon (little systemic absorption) and continued Cyclosporine, which is being carefully adjusted because of its current role in my kidney disfunction. The Creatinine was up slightly to 2.77 but the nephrologist is hopeful that it should begin to turn around tomorrow.
After lunch, MC and I took a short walk on the campus. This being prior to the RBC transfusion, it was a little bit of a workout for me, but it felt pretty good.
Bram just arrived from Boston and he will be staying with us for about 10 days between a couple of weddings he is attending back East. This should allow MC to get some real exercise and it will be fun to have him.

Yo Bram!
Give your mom and pop a big hug for me! Play them some tunes. That fills them with joy.
